This is a wonderful opportunity for a constructive
dialogue with the municipal corporation about our city, to directly communicate
with the Additional Commissioner to let him know what we citizens think about
the city’s environment and how the ESR should be prepared.
It is also an opportunity to participate in a very
meaningful exercise where citizens and the PMC think and work together to
improve the city.
We urge you to take it up and participate in the debate and
contribute to preparing the new ESR.
There are several things to do in preparation for the
debate:
Spread
the word: Tell your friends, colleagues, family members and everyone
you know about the debate and help make this a true citizen’s effort.
Organising
the debate: There will be a lot of logistics to be taken care of.
Join the organising team and help them get things in place.
Study
the ESR: Help the debating team by preparing points to be raised in
the debate. Meet those who have studied the ESR, to bring in their views.
Participate
in the actual debate: Attend the debate by being a part of the
audience and participate in the discussion. You will be asked to send your
questions prior to the debate.
Be a
part of the documentation team: We will need to document the
conclusions of the debate and minute what has been agreed. This document will
be signed by both the debating parties and will act as a reference document for
the next ESR. We will also video shoot the entire debate.
Help in
raising funds or contribute to cover the costs: This being a debate
organised by citizens, we will have to bear the costs involved ourselves. We
urge you to contribute your bit, in cash or kind. You can also help reduce the
costs by contributing your time and sharing responsibility.
